On June 23, Apake Public Foundation presented the project for construction of the radiotherapy center (RTC) in Kyrgyzstan. The purpose of the event is to mobilize the domestic business community, financial institutions and social entrepreneurs and to draw public attention to the issue of prevention and treatment of cancer.
The speakers of the meeting were the initiator of creating the center, the chairman of the supervisory board of Apake Foundation, Babur Tolbaev; Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Cholpon Sultanbekova; Chairman of the Board of the National Bank Tolkunbek Abdygulov; Indira Kudaibergenova, Chairman of the Association of Oncologists and Radiologists, as well as representatives of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund and social entrepreneurs. At the presentation all participants and journalists received comprehensive information about the business plan and the terms of investment of the project from social donors.
The purpose and idea of the project is to build a modern center where radiotherapy will be conducted for oncological patients on high-tech equipment and at affordable prices. The preliminary total cost of the project is $ 10.5 million. $ 2 million of which is planned to be attracted from financial institutions and social businessmen with the condition of return of investments. And the remaining amount of $ 8.5 million can be provided by major international financial institutions.
Versatility, sufficient bandwidth, reliability, security and a satisfactory tolerability in the treatment of cancer will be ensured by a modern linear accelerator TrueBeam ™ STx from Varian company, which enables the effectiveness of radiotherapy.
“We threw a call among business representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic. We already have land for the construction of the center, provided as a gift from a businessman, guaranteed by the MFI $ 100 thousand, $ 100 thousand from a commercial bank, $ 100 thousand from a social entrepreneur. In addition, we received a discount on the construction of the center in the amount of $ 100 thousand from a Kyrgyz construction company. When at least 17 more people agree to make a contribution of $ 100 thousand each, we will be ready to start our project, ”said Babur Tolbaev, chairman of the National Assembly of Apake.
